2 Poems by Heather Ball

Jezebel.II

How could you rejoice
when one,
Diverging of faith,
Died?

What happiness did you find
knowing
And believing
What you did?

That the dead’s soul
An undying piece of them
A shred of humanity
A necessarily cognizant port
Experienced now in both pain and anguish

Will Languish.

Justice

Justice is a beast,

Scaly--

Swift with teeth,

Seducing widows--
and widowers and the palls of passed children--

--------------------------------

Spine arched,

claws unsheathed with
Songs
and
Shrieks to

Fill the empty places
Left by those

Who believe

more in greater beasts.
